On March 13, Li Changyou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology, led a delegation from the Tengchong Scientist Forum Office, the Yunnan Tengchong Scientist Forum Center, and the Tengchong Normalized Work Leading Group to visit the Greater Bay Area Science Forum for study and research.
At the symposium, Li Changyou introduced the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology and the Tengchong Scientist Forum to the attendees, expressing hope for enhanced communication and collaboration in science and technology between Yunnan and Guangdong, especially the Greater Bay Area. He highlighted the international vision and cutting-edge scientific focus of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, noting the resonance between the two forums on topics such as life sciences and green energy. Li also extended an invitation to the Secretariat for the 2024 Tengchong Scientist Forum.
Nie Xiaowei, Researcher at the Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Deputy Secretary-General of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) under the Belt and Road Initiative, and Executive Secretary-General of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, welcomed the delegation from the Tengchong Scientist Forum and expressed gratitude for their support. He stated that the Greater Bay Area Science Forum is committed to implementing President Xi Jinping's and the Central Committee's directives on accelerating the development of new quality productivity and advancing high-quality development. He expressed hope to deepen cooperation with the Tengchong Scientist Forum, share resources, and jointly support the Belt and Road Initiative and high-quality development.
During the meeting, both sides introduced and exchanged ideas on their respective forums' missions, progress, operational models, and marketization experiences. They discussed topics such as forum features, the establishment of awards, fundraising, and permanent venues. Both parties expressed their intention to leverage their respective forum resources, establish a regular communication mechanism, and deepen cooperation in hosting forums and promoting industry-university-research collaborations.
Leaders from Guangzhou and Nansha Development Zone, along with relevant personnel from the Greater Bay Area Science Forum Secretariat, attended the symposium.
The delegation also visited the Nansha Planning Exhibition Hall and the permanent venue of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum to gain a deeper understanding of the forum's influence, regional planning, and venue operation model.
Currently, preparations for the 2024 Greater Bay Area Science Forum are in full swing, with a focus on cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and new energy vehicles. In the future, the Tengchong Scientist Forum aims to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Greater Bay Area Science Forum, actively exploring cross-regional cooperation, high-quality development, and a healthy, sustainable marketization path for the forum itself. Together, they will work to advance China's scientific endeavors.
