On the afternoon of March 21, 2024, the first Dialogue Between Scientists and Entrepreneurs of the 2024 Tengchong Scientists Forum was held in Beijing. The event aimed to implement the major strategic decisions and the spirit of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) by leveraging the innovative roles of scientists and entrepreneurs. It provided a platform for deep exchange and cooperation among scientists, entrepreneurs, and financiers, promoting the integration of innovation, industry, finance, and talent to enhance high-quality industrial development through technological empowerment.
Participants included Gu Binglin, Chairman of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and former President of Tsinghua University; Rao Zihe, Co-Chairman of the Forum, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and former President of Nankai University; Xu Rongkai, member of the Forum's Advisory Committee and former Governor of Yunnan Province; Ma Weihua, Chairman of the National Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Guidance Fund and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zhongqi Hui Group; and Wang Xueqin, Director of the Forum Organizing Committee Office, Party Secretary, and Director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
In his speech, Academician Gu Binglin emphasized the forum's focus on creating platforms for advanced academic exchange, government-industry-university interaction, scientific and technological achievement transformation, and scientific cooperation between China and South Asia and Southeast Asia. He called for scientists, entrepreneurs, and financiers to collaborate closely, achieving breakthroughs from "0 to 1" and transformations from "1 to infinity," accelerating the transition of innovative achievements from "laboratories" to "production lines," and fostering more leading tech companies.
Chairman Ma Weihua highlighted that the Zhongqi Hui Entrepreneur Club, a comprehensive service platform for renowned entrepreneurs and industry leaders, will leverage its core resources, including representatives from the National People's Congress, main board-listed companies, and China's top 100 enterprises, to support the Tengchong Scientist Forum. This will promote the deep integration of technology, finance, and industry.
Academician Gu Binglin and Chairman Ma Weihua jointly unveiled the "Strategic Partner" plaque for the Yunnan Tengchong Scientists Forum Center and the Zhongqi Hui Entrepreneur Club, marking a collaborative effort to enhance the forum's influence, outreach, and drive, aiming to develop it into a high-end, international, and distinctive "Technology Davos Forum."
Academician Rao Zihe and Guo Chengzhan, Party Secretary and President of the China Environmental Protection Industry Association, delivered keynote speeches on "Collaborative Innovation Towards 'New Quality Productivity'" and "The Spirit of the Two Sessions and New Quality Productivity." They discussed the deep coordination among scientists, entrepreneurs, and financiers and the tailored development of new quality productivity. Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology Song Guangxing introduced the 2024 Tengchong Scientists Forum plan and Yunnan's advantages in scientific and technological resources, policies, and environment. He invited scientists, entrepreneurs, and financiers to become partners of the forum and engage in scientific research and project cooperation in Yunnan, experiencing the unique lifestyle of Yunnan.

Zhong Xian, Managing Director of CICC Capital, introduced the preparation work for the Tengchong Scientist Forum Development Fund. Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of the Yunnan Tengchong Scientist Forum Center, and Hou Xiang, President of Zhongqi Hui Group, jointly hosted the meeting.
The event, organized by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and co-organized by the Yunnan Tengchong Scientist Forum Center and Zhongqi Hui Entrepreneur Club, marked the launch of the 2024 Tengchong Scientist Forum's series of dialogues between scientists and entrepreneurs. Future dialogues will be held in Beijing, Yunnan, and other cities, focusing on technological innovation and industrial development to enhance communication and cooperation, guide the modernization of industrial systems with technological innovation, and improve the conversion and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements.
