On July 4, 2024, the second Dialogue between Scientists and Entrepreneurs of the 2024 Tengchong Scientists Forum was held at the Haigeng Garden in Kunming. Five academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, along with more than 40 business representatives from inside and outside the province, engaged in discussions and shared insights on deeply integrating technological and industrial innovation in Yunnan, promoting the transformation of scientific achievements into local applications, and fostering collaboration between scientists and entrepreneurs to drive high-quality development in Yunnan.
Academician Rao Zihe of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Co-Chairman of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, and Wang Xueqin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department, attended and delivered speeches. Ma Weihua, Chairman of the China Entrepreneur Club, gave the keynote speech. Over 100 guests attended, including former Governor of Yunnan Province Xu Rongkai, academicians Ji Weizhi, Bian Xiuwu, Zhu Zhaoyun, and Wu Yuzhang, as well as representatives from the Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Provincial Academy of Sciences, the Tengchong Scientists Forum Center, and well-known entrepreneurs.

Rao Zihe stated that the Tengchong Scientists Forum has achieved a leap from "nothing to something" and from "good to better," now aiming for "excellence." Wang Xueqin introduced that since the Tengchong Scientists Forum began in 2022, it has attracted over 180 academicians, more than 80 university presidents, over 500 experts and scholars, and more than 300 enterprise and financial institution leaders. The forum has become a grand event in the scientific community with stellar participation. Technological innovation is fundamental for business survival, with enterprises being the main force of innovation. Organizing dialogue activities between scientists and entrepreneurs aims to find more points of innovation integration and build a platform for deep exchange and cooperation, promoting the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. Promoting the Implementation of Scientific Results in Yunnan
Ma Weihua, Chairman of the China Entrepreneur Club, gave a keynote speech from three perspectives: opportunities and challenges in economic development, the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, and the practical significance of the Tengchong Scientists Forum. He emphasized that the foundation for promoting deep integration is increasing the supply of high-quality technology, the key is strengthening the primary position of enterprises in technological innovation, and the approach is to build a platform for deep exchange and cooperation among scientists, entrepreneurs, and financiers. The forum focuses on technological innovation and industrial development, promoting scientific cooperation, and playing a significant role in sustainable economic and social development. Lan Fawen, Deputy Mayor of Qujing City, promoted Qujing's dual recruitment and introduction efforts, highlighting four key advantages in industrial foundation, park carrying capacity, park guarantee ability, and resource elements. He introduced three trillion-yuan industries in new energy batteries, green silicon photovoltaics, and green aluminum deep processing, as well as six billion-yuan industries in new silicon materials, rare and liquid metals, and two special industries in high-end food and cultural tourism. Qujing is focusing on "bringing technology into Qujing," strengthening "dual recruitment and introduction" and establishing a normalized mechanism for "investment attraction" and "talent recruitment." Entrepreneurs are warmly invited to Qujing for inspections and business ventures.
Chen Feimin, Deputy Governor of Chuxiong Prefecture, promoted Chuxiong's industrial development and investment environment from three aspects: green resources, Yi medicine heritage, and cultural landscapes. He highlighted projects such as the new energy power battery and supporting industries in Chuxiong City, the development and upgrading of Yi and Chinese medicine, and the Lufeng Jurassic Cultural Tourism Industrial Park. Chuxiong Prefecture strengthens the entire chain of talent introduction, training, service, and incentives, implementing a series of talent policies such as "1+3+N," the "Thousand Master and Doctoral Students Enter Chuxiong" special action, and the "High Precision and Urgent Talent" recruitment project. More academicians and entrepreneurs are encouraged to focus on and collaborate in building green industry clusters, health-integrated living areas, and all-region tourism destinations.
Lu Xujun, Deputy Governor of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, promoted the cultivation of Dali's modern industrial system, highlighting resource characteristics, industrial ecology, and development advantages. He introduced five key industries in advanced manufacturing, modern logistics, cultural tourism, geothermal energy development and utilization, and biomedicine. Dali is focusing on building a whole-chain industrial cultivation system around the province's "3815" strategic goal, attracting and gathering innovative elements such as Dali's advantageous industrial research platforms, high-end talents, and frontier technologies to accelerate the modernization and upgrading of the "445" billion-yuan industry system. Academicians and entrepreneurs are warmly invited to Dali for business inspections to advance the implementation of advanced technologies and industrial resources in Dali, and to transfer and transform them in Yunnan.
Joint Efforts for High-Quality Economic and Social Development
In the dialogue and exchange session, academicians Wu Yuzhang, Bian Xiuwu, Ji Weizhi, and Zhu Zhaoyun shared the latest technological achievements and related transformations in decoding human immunity, human pathological diagnosis, primate reproduction and development, and the research and development of traditional and ethnic medicines and natural drugs in low-latitude plateau regions. Representatives from more than ten companies, including Anhui EASPEED Co., Ltd., China Gas Holdings Limited, Puxiang Health Group Co., Ltd., and Beijing Energy International Holdings Co., Ltd.,introduced their current advantages in aerial imaging technology, pipeline natural gas, health management services, and other innovative achievements and transformation needs.
