Discussion between the two sides

On July 22, 2024, Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, Secretary of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, led a Nepalese delegation to visit the Tengchong Scientist Forum Center in Yunnan. The two sides exchanged views on the Tengchong Scientist Forum, China-Nepal scientific and technological cooperation, and the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. Ma Minxiang, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology, attended the meeting.

Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of the Tengchong Scientist Forum Center, extended a warm welcome to the Nepalese delegation. Chen Yu stated that the Tengchong Scientist Forum is committed to building an open, inclusive, and diverse platform for scientific and technological exchanges, aiming to promote innovation and progress in the global scientific and technological fields. He expressed the hope that through this visit and exchange activities, the two sides can enhance friendship, expand cooperation, and engage in broader and deeper cooperation in the field of science and technology with Nepal.

Rabindra Prasad Dhakal, Deputy Secretary General of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, said that scientific and technological development is the core driving force for national development, and China and Nepal are friendly neighbors and development partners. In recent years, China's scientific and technological progress has been rapid, and exchanges between Nepal and China in the field of science and technology have also increased. The Nepal Academy of Science and Technology has always maintained close cooperation with Yunnan. He hopes to take advantage of the important international platform of the Tengchong Scientist Forum to continue expanding joint research, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and the exchange of scientific and technological talents, achieving win-win development for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.

Kush Kumar Joshi, Chairman of Ekamt Engineering Pvt. Ltd. and a member of the Nepal delegation, said he looks forward to more cooperation opportunities with the Tengchong Scientist Forum in the future. Through the forum's exchange platform, they can learn about relevant information and research projects in green technology and renewable energy fields. Hari Chandra Shah Rauniyar, Chairman of the Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Association, expressed the hope to continue promoting cooperation and exchanges between Nepal and Yunnan in the fields of science, culture, and humanities through the academicians' resources of the Tengchong Scientist Forum. This would advance the application and transformation of high-tech, further expand cooperation and exchanges in science, culture, and humanities between Nepal and Yunnan, spread scientific ideas, and establish long-term friendly relations between the two sides.

Zhou Yuanyuan, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center, and his team participated in the discussions. During the exchange, Zhou Yuanyuan expressed the hope to establish tripartite cooperation between Shanghai, Nepal, and the Tengchong Scientist Forum through this exchange opportunity, forming a close cooperative relationship. He also wished the Tengchong Scientist Forum greater success, becoming a high-level international cooperation and exchange platform in the field of science and technology.

Ma Minxiang, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology, pointed out that the Tengchong Scientist Forum adheres to internationalization, high-end orientation, and specialization, and is committed to promoting the spirit of science and scientists, building a platform for advanced academic idea exchanges, a platform for interaction among government, industry, academia, and research, a platform for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and a platform for scientific and technological cooperation between China and South Asia and Southeast Asia countries. He hopes that both sides can make good use of the forum platform to promote the globalization of science and technology and jointly advance China-Nepal cooperation in the field of science and technology.
