On the afternoon of October 19, 2024, the Seminar on China-Indian science and technology exchange was held at the Tengchong Scientists Forum Center. The seminar aimed to further enhance China-India scientific and technological innovation cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between scientists of the two countries, and expand cooperation opportunities between the Tengchong Scientists Forum and India. Ma Minxiang, Deputy Director of Yunnan Provincial Academy of Sciences, and Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of Yunnan Tengchong Scientists Forum Center, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Shang Xiaohui, Chairman of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Information Society.
Bilateral Discussion and Exchange
Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of Yunnan Tengchong Scientists Forum Center, extended a warm welcome to the Indian scientific and technological delegation and introduced the forum from three aspects: overview, highlights, and vision for cooperation. Chen Yu stated that the Tengchong Scientists Forum has always been committed to building an open, inclusive, and diverse platform for scientific and technological exchanges, aiming to promote innovation and progress in the global scientific field. Seizing this opportunity for visit and exchange, he sincerely invited experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs from the Indian scientific community to attend the Tengchong Scientists Forum, looking forward to broader and deeper cooperation in academic exchanges, achievement transformation, and operation of science and technology parks.
Samir Kulkarni, Professor at Mumbai Chemical College and Head of the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, thanked the Indian scientific and technological delegation for being invited to participate in the event. He said that China and India have a profound foundation for cooperation in cultural, economic, and scientific and technological fields, and the rapid development of both countries is due to the advancement of science and technology. He hoped that both sides would face challenges together and strengthen cooperation in the fields of medicine, information technology, energy, intellectual property rights, and technology transfer to promote mutual economic development. In the future, he will actively promote exchanges and cooperation with the Tengchong Scientists Forum, spread scientific ideas, and establish a new milestone for bilateral cooperation.
Ma Minxiang, Deputy Director of Yunnan Provincial Academy of Sciences, pointed out that the purpose of holding the science and technology exchange seminar at the Tengchong Scientists Forum Center is to enhance friendship and understanding between the two countries and to promote cooperation. By introducing the relevant situation of the Tengchong Scientists Forum and discussing technology transfer and cooperation, it is hoped that both sides will make good use of various exchange platforms, promote the globalization of science and technology, jointly promote cooperation between China and India in the field of science and technology, and achieve win-win development.
During the discussion and exchange session, both sides exchanged views on issues related to making good use of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, pharmaceutical industry, talent cooperation, intellectual property rights, and biotechnology.
