On February 21, 2025, commissioned by the organizing committee of Tengchong Scientists' Forum, Gu Binglin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, former President of Tsinghua University and Chairman of Tengchong Scientists' Forum, led a delegation to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to congratulate Yuming Lu, the winner of the first Tengchong Science Prize, on his official appointment as the President of the CUHK, and hoped that the CUHK and President Lu would continue to support Tengchong Scientists' Forum in the future. It is hoped that the Chinese University of Hong Kong and President Lu Yuming will continue to pay attention to and support Tengchong Scientists' Forum in the future. This meeting aims to further strengthen the communication and cooperation between the two sides, promote the Chinese University of Hong Kong to carry out multi-level exchanges and cooperation with mainland universities and enterprises, and make joint efforts to make Tengchong Scientists Forum play a greater influence in the international academic arena.

Academician Gu Binglin introduced in detail the overall situation and related achievements of Tengchong Scientists Forum last year, with special reference to the organization of the University Presidents' Forum, which was attended by more than 300 people, including academicians of the two academies, presidents of nationally renowned universities, presidents of universities in the province, as well as leaders of the education sector, scientific research institutes, and enterprises, etc., and the presidents of Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University, in the 2024 University Presidents' Forum, Xi'an Jiaotong University 5 university presidents made a keynote speech. Hosted by Tsinghua University, Peking University and Nankai University in rotation, the forum aims to build a platform for dialogue among universities across the Taiwan Strait, in the four regions and internationally, with the expectation that more universities inside and outside China, such as The Chinese University of Hong Kong, will participate, so as to strengthen the forum's international exchanges and cooperation, and to promote the sharing and integration of global academic resources.

President Lu Yuming expressed his high recognition of the open concept of Tengchong Forum, and said that The Chinese University of Hong Kong has been maintaining close cooperation with Tsinghua University and Peking University, and that Hong Kong universities, which have the advantages of internationalization vision and scientific research transformation, are looking forward to forming a more three-dimensional cooperation network with mainland universities through the window of Tengchong Scientists' Forum. He particularly mentioned that, in addition to his personal team and Yunnan universities to carry out joint research, last year, the Yunnan Provincial Government and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) signed a strategic cooperation agreement, in the non-ferrous metals and new materials, biomedicine, ecological and environmental protection, the digital economy and other areas to deepen the provincial school cooperation, and has made positive progress.

After the meeting, Academician Gu Binglin once again invited President Lu Yuming to participate in the 2025 Tengchong Scientists' Forum in his capacity as the President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and as the winner of the first Tengchong Science Award. President Lu Yuming gladly accepted the invitation and expressed that he would continue to actively support the organization of the Tengchong Scientists' Forum and jointly contribute to the development of global scientific research.

This visit not only deepened the mutual understanding between Tengchong Scientists Forum and CUHK, but also laid a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation in academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation. Both sides look forward to working together to promote more international academic resources exchange and integration, and help the development of global scientific research. Tengchong Scientists Forum will also continue to uphold the concept of openness and cooperation to build a broader communication platform for scientists around the world, and to promote the innovation and progress of science and technology.
