On March 21, Wang Ning, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Yubo, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, met with Gu Binglin, Rao Zihe, and Gao Fu, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and their delegation in Kunming.

Wang Ning and Wang Yubo expressed that President Xi Jinping had just conducted an inspection tour in Yunnan, delivering important speeches and instructions, and pointing out the direction for Yunnan’s modernization drive. They stated that they will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of President Xi’s important speeches during his inspection tour in Yunnan, vigorously promote industrial transformation and upgrading, strengthen and optimize resource-based industries led by scientific and technological innovation, and accelerate the construction of an innovative Yunnan.

They hoped to work with all parties to improve the operational mechanism of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, amplify its brand effect and social influence, facilitate the transfer and landing of more scientific and technological achievements, and support the development of Yunnan’s characteristic and advantageous industries such as biopharmaceuticals, health and wellness tourism, non-ferrous metals, and new materials, as well as education and healthcare, fostering new productivity according to local conditions.

The three academicians provided suggestions on improving the Tengchong Scientists Forum and promoting its sustainable development, stating that they will combine Yunnan’s resource endowments and development needs to promote the improvement of forum funds, facilitate the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation, and form a series of landmark cases of scientific and technological achievement transfer, better empowering Yunnan’s modernization drive.
