The Tengchong Scientists Forum2025: Life Science andHolisticHealth Satellite Conferencecommenced in Kunmingon the morning of 23 August. Over 500 distinguished academicians, experts, scholars, and representatives from industry associations and enterprises within the biomedicine andHolisticHealthgathered in the Spring-City. The forum focused on technical exchanges concerning cutting-edge technologies, achievement transformation, scenario applications, and industrial development within biomedicine andHolisticHealth.It aimed to foster deep interdisciplinary collaboration within the medical field and accelerate the translation of fundamental life science research outcomes into clinical applications.

Zhang Xiangming, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Government of Yunnan Province and Deputy Director of the Organising Committee of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, attended the opening ceremony. Wang Qingmei, Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Investment Promotion Bureau, delivered a presentation on investment and talent attraction initiatives.

Academician Sun Hang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academicians Sun Baoguo, Li Tianlai and Jin Ningyi of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the opening ceremony.

Wang Xueqin stated that the life sciences and healthcare industries serve as crucial pillars for implementing the Healthy China strategy, while also constituting concrete measures to carry forward the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important address during his inspection tour of Yunnan. In recent years, the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have prioritised the development of the biomedicine and health industries as trillion-yuan pillar sectors. They have introduced a series of policies, including the《Yunnan Province 14th Five-Year Plan for Innovative Development of the Biomedicine Industry》, providing comprehensive support across key areas such as R&D innovation, commercialisation of research outcomes, market expansion, and talent recruitment. These efforts aim to cultivate a world-class innovation ecosystem. It is hoped that the Tengchong Scientists Forum will serve as a platform to advance cutting-edge exchanges in life sciences, foster collaborative technological breakthroughs, and facilitate efficient commercialisation of research outcomes. This will elevate the development of Yunnan's healthcare sector and better serve the public interest.

At the opening ceremony, signing ceremonies were held for the ‘dual recruitment and dual attraction’ projects and the Tengchong Scientists Forum Science and Technology Innovation Alliance membership. The 2025 Tengchong Scientists Forum · Life Sciences and Wellness Special Event secured 16 investment cooperation projects with a total investment exceeding 6.5 billion yuan, spanning biomedicine and wellness, modern agriculture and food, green energy and environmental protection, digital and intelligent manufacturing, and other sectors. A total of 37 talent recruitment cooperation projects were signed, including five teams led by academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attracting over 90 high-level talents across biomedicine, ecological environmental protection, plateau-specific agriculture, and new materials. During the signing ceremony for the Tengchong Scientists Forum Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, the Forum Centre signed agreements with ten member units and extended an invitation to enterprises from all sectors to join the Alliance.

During the keynotespeech, Rao Zihe, Fan Daiming, Ma Jun, Shi Songhai, and Gao Shaorong delivered presentations respectively on:《Pathogen Research》《Integrated Health Sciences》《Innovation-Driven Scientific Research Guided by Clinical Challenges: Cultivating Innovative Young Talent Through Projects》《Brain Development and Function》, and《Embryonic and Stem Cell-Based Embryonic Development Research》Discussions centered on pathogen research for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases alongside novel drug development, the practical application of integrative health science in oncology, AI-assisted radiotherapy, and innovative achievements in combined radiotherapy/chemotherapy with immunotherapy. Breakthrough discoveries in neural stem cell division patterns and cortical architecture formation within brain development were presented, alongside the pivotal role of genetics in embryonic development and groundbreaking techniques for stem cell-derived pseudo-embryo construction. These presentations centred on cutting-edge research and practical applications within the broader medical and health sciences domain.

Liu Zhijie, Wu Hao, Shi Fudong, Wang Yilong, and Huo Yong presented cutting-edge research findings in the following fields: the progression mechanisms and treatment of neuroimmunological disorders; molecular mechanisms of taste perception; central auditory reconstruction via brain-computer interface technology; the impact of brain-meningeal-bone marrow lymphatic circulation on neurological health; and evidence-based medical evidence linking systemic inflammation to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease ASCVD. They further outlined prospects for the clinical translation of related research in Yunnan.

During theSatellite Conference, renowned experts and scholars from institutions including Beijing Tiantan Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, Peking University First Hospital, Ninth People's Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Naval Medical University, and the Affiliated Hospital of Army Medical University delivered on-site presentations and shared insights on cutting-edge technologies, achievement transformation, scenario applications, and industrial development within the fields of life sciences, biomedicine, and the broader health industry.

ThisSatellite Conferenceaims to implement the《Healthy China 2030Planning Outline》, establishing a multidisciplinaryand multi-sectoral platform for collaboration and exchange to advance technological exchange and resource sharing within the life sciences and broader health sectors. Through keynote presentations, three specialised parallel sessions, and networking activities, it will foster technical exchange and resource sharing across relevant fields, thereby supporting the advancement of modern medicine and enhancing the health and wellbeing of the entire population.
