The Tengchong Scientists Forum 2025: Life Science and Holistic Health Satellite Conference concluded successfully in Kunming on 24 August 2025,. The Satellite Conference facilitated the signing of 16 investment cooperation projects and 37 talent recruitment cooperation projects. 10 member organisations of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Innovation Alliance signed agreements on-site. As a key thematic event of the 2025 Tengchong Scientists Forum, this gathering made substantial strides in pooling high-end resources and advancing scientific innovation collaboration.

Frontiers in Focus: Academicians and Experts Explore the Mysteries of Life

Life Science and Holistic Health, pivotal to human quality of life and future development, remain a global focal point. The Tengchong Scientists Forum 2025: Life Science and Holistic Health Satellite Conference has convened leading minds from China's life sciences community, establishing a bridge for interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration. It advances the frontiers of life sciences through innovative thinking and propels the future of the health industry with cutting-edge technologies.

During the Satellite Conference, renowned domestic academicians alongside experts from institutions including Beijing Tiantan Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, Peking University First Hospital, Ninth People's Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital, the Naval Medical University, and the Army Medical University Affiliated Hospital. They led discussions on the future of life sciences development, focusing on cutting-edge technologies, achievement transformation, scenario applications, and industrial development within the fields of life sciences, biomedicine, and the broader health industry. Through on-site presentations and exchanges, they charted a clear blueprint for industry advancement from fundamental research to clinical application, inspiring subsequent in-depth exploration and practice.

Taking root: Dual recruitment and investment attraction yields tangible results

This thematic event facilitated 53 investment and talent attraction projects. Among these, 16 investment cooperation projects totalled over 6.5 billion yuan in capital, spanning biomedicine and healthcare, modern agriculture and food processing, green energy and environmental protection, digital technology, and intelligent manufacturing. High-tech enterprises, specialised, refined, distinctive, and innovative ‘little giant’ firms, and Fortune 500 companies accounted for over 50% of the investment projects. Additionally, 37 talent recruitment initiatives were secured, attracting five teams led by academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, alongside over 90 high-calibre professionals. These collaborations span biomedicine, ecological conservation, plateau-specific agriculture, and new materials, injecting robust intellectual support to enhance Yunnan's regional scientific innovation capabilities.

At the opening ceremony, the inaugural cohort of ten member organisations of the Science and Innovation Alliance signed agreements with the Tengchong Scientists Forum Centre in Yunnan, further expanding the forum's innovation network. Positioned as a premium service platform to establish a ‘global hub for scientific and technological innovation resources,’ the Tengchong Scientists Forum Sci-Tech Innovation Alliance leverages the forum's international network of scientists, its repository of government-enterprise-academia-research resources, and its industrial ecosystem. Focusing on four core domains—technology transfer, capital matching, industrial upgrading, and policy empowerment—it provides members with full-cycle sci-tech innovation services spanning ‘technology-capital-market-policy.’ Collaborating with diverse market entities including research institutions, technology-based enterprises, and technology investment funds, jointly charting an innovation development blueprint to forge a globally oriented integrated ecosystem encompassing industry, academia, research, and application.

At the ‘dual recruitment and dual attraction’ matching conference, an efficient collaboration platform for government, enterprises, academia and research was established through a model of ‘pre-conference precision targeting, targeted efforts during the event, and sustained post-conference support’. This initiative has injected robust new momentum into the biopharmaceutical and broader health industries.

Diverse Exchange: Parallel Sessions Shine with Highlights

In addition to the keynote speech, the event featured three specialised parallel sessions, each chaired by leading industry experts. Professor Wang Yuping, Director of Neurology at Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University, chaired the cerebrovascular (stroke and sleep) parallel session. Professor Huo Yong, Chief Cardiologist at Peking University First Hospital, chaired the cardiovascular parallel session. Professor Wu Hao, President of the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, chaired the parallel session on cutting-edge technologies in deafness prevention and treatment.

Attendees shared the latest research findings and clinical expertise across cerebrovascular and cardiovascular medicine, pharmaceutical innovation and translation, and medical tourism and wellness. This fostered academic exchange and technological advancement within these fields, providing robust support for clinical practice and industrial development. Three parallel sessions delved into specialised domains, broadening the scope and depth of discourse within life sciences and the broader health sector while promoting interdisciplinary integration and collaborative innovation.

In the future, The Tengchong Scientists Forum will continue to led technological innovation, establish high-level dialogue platforms, promote the scientific spirit, and foster scientific and technological exchange and cooperation. It will persistently advance the integration of technological innovation with industry, support the implementation of more cutting-edge scientific achievements, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development of a Healthy China.
