On January 30, during the 2026 Cooperation Exchange Meeting for Social Support of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, the Tengchong Scientists Forum Foundation was formally launched. This marks a crucial step in establishing a long-term support mechanism and promoting sustainable development for the forum, propelling it steadily toward its goal of becoming the “Davos of Science and Technology.”

Born of Mission, Acting for the Long Term

Initiated by scientists including Academician Gu Binglin, Academician Xu Zhihong, and Academician Rao Zihe, and launched by the Yunnan Tengchong Scientists Forum Center, the Tengchong Scientists Forum Foundation was formally registered with the Yunnan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs at the end of 2025.

As a non-publicly funded foundation, it concurrently applied for registration as a charitable organization. The Foundation's mission is to conduct charitable activities focused on scientific and technological innovation, building academic exchange platforms, promoting science popularization and talent cultivation, advancing the transformation of scientific achievements and sustainable social development, and contributing to the construction of an innovative society. It will accept public welfare donations and attract social capital to support forum organization, award selection, and various initiatives that foster innovation in science, technology, talent, and education, accelerating the development of the Tengchong Scientists Forum into a world-class platform with Chinese characteristics.

Second Meeting of the First Council

The Foundation has preliminarily established a comprehensive institutional framework. At the Second Meeting of the First Council convened on January 29, 2026, key management systems were reviewed and approved, laying a solid foundation for standardized operations.

The Foundation will strictly adhere to the principles of “dedicated use of funds and transparency,” accepting public oversight through annual reports and project disclosures to ensure lawful and transparent fund utilization, making every trust resonate.

Focusing on Action, Defining Goals and Initiatives

In the new year, the Foundation will prioritize three key initiatives to deepen the integration of philanthropic efforts with scientific innovation. First, targeted fundraising and resource integration. We will conduct focused fundraising efforts among prominent social figures, private enterprises, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and European and American technology companies, establishing regular communication channels. Second, project-driven initiatives with results-oriented outcomes. We will support the Forum's flagship events and international sub-forums, facilitate the selection processes for the Tengchong Science Prize and Tengchong Young Scientist Award, and advance technology transfer and science popularization activities. Third, open collaboration and platform co-creation. Leveraging the Forum Center's resources, it will facilitate scientific exchanges in Southeast Asian countries, build digital cooperation platforms, and promote efficient cross-border matching of innovation resources.

Public welfare gathers momentum; scientific innovation reaches far. As a highlight of this cooperation exchange meeting, the official launch of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Foundation will further consolidate philanthropic efforts, providing robust support for the Forum to continuously attract global top-tier intellectual resources, advance the transformation of scientific achievements, and deepen international scientific cooperation.
