In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, to motivate scientists to uphold the interests of the country, serve the people, pursue truth, conduct rigorous academic research, be innovative, and strive for excellence, and to produce more original achievements with world-leading standards, thus leading the future development of science and technology, we propose to establish the Tengchong Science Award during the annual Tengchong Scientists Forum. This initiative is proposed by Academicians Gu Binglin, Xu Zhihong, Rao Zihe.

The plan is to establish the Tengchong Science Award Foundation Committee and set up the Tengchong Science Award Fund, which willalsoaccept donations from entrepreneurs and various sectors of society. The Tengchong Science Award plans to be awarded once a year, honoring 2-3 scientists, with awards presented at the annual Tengchong Scientist Forum.

The Tengchong Science Award will focus on the fields of science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, and interdisciplinary studies, rewarding scientists who have made outstanding contributions in achieving major technological breakthroughs at the forefront of science and technology, establishing strong independent intellectual property rights and brands through technological innovation, and promoting national scientific and technological progress. The achievements of the awardees are expected to benefit China, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, with no restrictions on the nationality of the recipients.

The Tengchong Science Award Foundation Committee will refer to international awards such as the Nobel Award and the Turing Award to establish the evaluation mechanism for the Tengchong Science Award. The plan is to adopt a nomination invitation system and an international peer review system, with the Tengchong Science Award Foundation Committee organizing an evaluation committee composed of experts in the relevant fields who possessNoble moral character, profound academic achievements, and a strong commitment to rewarding scientific and technological advancements. Upholding principles of fairness, impartiality, and credibility, the committee will conduct professional evaluations and award certificates and prizes.
