For two consecutive years, Lincang has cultivated a specialised interactive brand focused on modern agricultural innovation, development, and open cooperation. This initiative has enabled numerous scientific and technological colleagues to recognise Lincang's inherent resources and comparative advantages in developing high-end, distinctive agriculture, while also appreciating the developmental potential of both Lincang and Yunnan Province. Yunnan boasts the most abundant agricultural resources, with diverse climatic conditions conducive to domestic plant cultivation, creating excellent conditions for emerging industries. The macadamia nut, now known as the Lincang nut, has successfully established its brand. Academician Xu Zhihong explained, ‘Building upon last year's foundation, this thematic event further deepens discussions on the development and utilisation of distinctive agricultural resources. It focuses on leveraging technological innovation to drive high-quality development in plateau-specific agriculture, while exploring enhanced cooperation with neighbouring nations in economic, scientific, and talent-related domains, grounded in local resource-based industries’.

Zhang Xiangming delivered a speech, Deputy Secretary General of Yunnan Provincial People's Government and Deputy Director of the Organizing Committee of the Forum.

In address, Zhang Xiangming stated that Yunnan's strength lies in its geographical position, and its future in openness. It serves as a vital corridor for China's engagement with South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian Ocean Rim. The 28 border ports serve as windows to the world, the China-Laos Railway functions as a vital artery, and the three major international corridors act as extended arms. The new China-Myanmar corridor departing from Lincang enables goods to reach global markets via the Indian Ocean. The dividends of openness are now benefiting ever broader horizons. The organisation of the Tengchong Scientists Forum and related specialised events aims to leverage Yunnan's capabilities in establishing platforms for collaboration between scientists and entrepreneurs.

Du Jianhui, Secretary of the CP Lincang Municipal Committee, delivered a speech.

Du Jianhui stated that since Lincang successfully hosted the Tengchong Scientists Forum last year, a series of achievements in scientific research, industrial development, and attracting investment and expertise have steadily emerged. Science and technology have enabled industrial transformation and upgrading while enhancing incomes and prosperity for the populace. Highland specialty agriculture represents Lincang's competitive advantage and is pivotal to driving industrial transformation and upgrading; openness remains the indispensable path for Lincang's development, while cooperation stands as the enduring theme for jointly creating prosperity. This event represents a concrete implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important directives on scientific innovation and his significant remarks during his inspection tour of Yunnan. Lincang will intensify efforts in scientific innovation and the commercialisation of research outcomes, persistently advance the construction of the National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone, and fully leverage comparative advantages in green development, resources, and geographical positioning. By empowering industries through technology and connecting with the world through openness, Lincang will compose a new chapter in its high-quality development.
