On January 30, the 2026 Cooperation Exchange Meeting for Social Support of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, themed “Walking Hand in Hand, Embarking on a New Journey,” was held in Kunming. This event aimed to express gratitude for the strong support from all sectors of society for the Tengchong Scientists Forum, unite social forces, propel the forum toward higher levels, and inject new momentum into scientific and technological innovation and regional development.

Academician Gu Binglin, Chairman of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, reviewed the forum's development journey. Over four years, the forum has evolved into a vital platform for scientific exchange and industrial innovation. The year 2025 delivered particularly impressive results, achieving new heights in scale and international influence while demonstrating a fresh momentum, garnering widespread attention and positive recognition from society at large. He emphasized that the forum will align with its vision of becoming a “Davos of Science and Technology,” focusing on global scientific frontiers and national strategic needs. It will serve as a bridge and link, build efficient cooperation platforms, strengthen its think tank functions, and contribute greater strength to China's pursuit of self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

Yang Bin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Kunming University of Science and Technology, spoke as a representative of the sub-forum organizing institution. He introduced the university's distinctive academic disciplines and research strengths, pledging to align the forum with industrial needs, deepen collaborative innovation among industry, academia, research, and application, and leverage the forum to cultivate talent. While actively supporting the development of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, the university will also utilize the forum platform to empower its own growth and attract talent for Yunnan Province's development.

Wu Dongdong, Deputy Director of the Kunming Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, expressed gratitude as a recipient of the inaugural 2025 Tengchong Young Scientist Award for the forum's recognition and encouragement. He shared insights on transforming and achieving breakthroughs in scientific research. As a young scientist in the new era, he pledged to shoulder the mission of achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance, contributing Chinese scientists' strength to national strategies and human welfare.

Dong Shaozhong, Vice Chairman of Yunnan Watson Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Zhang Yunseng, Chairman of Jinqi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., shared vivid examples of leveraging the forum platform to connect with scientific achievements from academicians and experts, thereby driving their own industrial upgrades. These cases fully demonstrated the forum's unique role in promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and empowering enterprise development.

Zhao Hanbin, Chief Correspondent of Science and Technology Daily in Yunnan, proposed from a media perspective the construction of an all-scenario intelligent distribution and dissemination matrix to enhance the forum's international outreach.

Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Center, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the center to all sectors that have long supported the forum's development. He comprehensively reviewed the significant achievements of the 2025 Tengchong Scientists Forum and called for broader societal participation to collectively elevate the forum to new heights.

A highlight of the exchange meeting was the official launch of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Foundation. Li Jiaqiang, Secretary-General of the Foundation, explained that under the guidance of the Forum Organizing Committee, the Tengchong Scientists Forum Foundation was established at the end of 2025. It aims to leverage public welfare resources to sustainably support the Forum's development, serve the “Tengchong Science Prize,” build a collaborative platform for government, industry, academia, and research, assist Yunnan in establishing itself as a hub for scientific and technological innovation, and steadily advance the Forum toward its goal of becoming the “Davos of Science and Technology.”

Representatives from the main participating organizations and partners of the 2025 Tengchong Scientists Forum and its series of events, media representatives, leaders from relevant universities and research institutes within and outside the province, and renowned entrepreneurs attended this exchange activity.
