On January 29, the first board meeting of 2026 for the Tengchong Scientists Forum Center in Yunnan ( Forum Center) convened in Kunming. Academician Rao Zihe of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, former President of Nankai University, Co-Chair of the Tengchong Scientists Forum, and Chairman of the Forum Center attended and presided over the meeting. He reviewed the Forum Center's 2025 annual work report and provided guidance on the future development plan for the Tengchong Scientists Forum and the next steps for the Forum Center.

Chen Yu, Secretary-General and Director of the Forum Center, reported on the 2025 work covering meeting organization, guest invitations, achievement transformation, publicity, and financial operations. He stated that the Forum Center will anchor its efforts in the directions of “professionalization, internationalization, marketization, and effectiveness.” It will actively explore “going global,” strengthen international cooperation and exchanges, continuously advance the transformation of forum resources and achievements, and comprehensively enhance market-oriented and professional operational capabilities.
Representatives from the Forum Center's board members and supervisors attended the meeting. They fully affirmed the work carried out since the center's establishment, actively offered suggestions for the 2026 forum operations, and expressed their commitment to further leveraging the strengths and characteristics of each board member unit. They pledged to deeply engage and collaborate to successfully organize the Tengchong Scientists Forum at a high level, particularly by fully relying on the strengths of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Yunnan Normal University alumni associations to jointly advance the transformation of forum outcomes, strengthen market-oriented operations, and fully promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation.
Academician Rao Zihe emphasized that all council members should actively embody the forum's core principle of “collaboration.” Guided by the spirit of the Southwest Associated University, they should pool wisdom, form synergies, learn from internationally renowned forums, and collaborate to ensure the sustainable operation of the forum's foundation and its high-quality management. Together, they should build Asia's premier science and technology exchange center, transforming the forum into an international, high-end, and distinctive “Davos of Science and Technology.”

Shang Chaoqiu, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Deputy Director of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Organizing Committee Office, along with Ma Minxiang, Vice President of the Yunnan Academy of Sciences and Deputy Director of the Tengchong Scientists Forum Organizing Committee Office, attended the meeting to provide guidance.
